Yesterday was a sunny day, so my family and I decided to visit the city zoo. It was a special day because it was my little brother Tim's birthday. Tim loves animals, especially the big, strong ones.
First, we saw the lions. They were sleeping under a large tree. Tim was a little disappointed because he wanted to see them roar. My mother told him, "Lions often sleep in the daytime."
Next, we went to the monkey house. The monkeys were very active. They were jumping, running, and eating bananas. One monkey was holding a baby monkey. Tim laughed a lot. He thought they were very funny.
Then, we watched the elephants. They were huge! An elephant was using its long trunk to spray water on itself. My father bought Tim an ice cream because he had been a good boy.
We stayed at the zoo for almost three hours. Before we left, we bought a small toy lion for Tim. He was very happy with his present. Visiting the zoo was a wonderful way to celebrate his birthday. We can't wait to go again soon!
